1. starbucks's old logo, its a mermaid and those are swirls of cream in coffee
2. i'm pretty sure part 1 of 1 is right ..my second guess for the second image is is that its the top part of a coffee filter..the kind used in india or a percolator of some sort
so connection is coffee...
though in my highly caffeinated state anything seems related to coffee...so i may be totally off
