Photoshop Scandal

To the sincere followers of the great Lenscrafter:

Due to certain work-related travels to the far-east that could not be postponed, the great alchemist of digital photography, Herr Lenscrafter, has been unable to post a new puzzle for us. I'm aware that he has several under preparation and he will soon resume posting.

In the meantime, I have come across certain disturbing occurrences regarding Photoshopping. As educated followers of Lenscrafting, I thought you may have something to say about this. The best comments will be compiled into a new post for easier reading.

Adnan Hajj, a formerly well-respected Lebanese photo-journalist for Reuters, has been caught red-handed by 'shopping enthusiasts like you!

Link to Reuters article about withdrawal of Hajj's work. Check out the pictures inset.

Link to the LA-Based bloggomunity that started the detective work.

Peace,

Sisyphus

Hello to all,
This incident can be viewed in two different perspectives:

One is that it shows the sort of manipulation that can be cariied out using the technology available out there. It most definitely is a serious breach of ethics of the media-to present an accurate picture of the situation.

The other view is that these doctored images may produce more international pressure on the two sides which are at war to call a ceasefire.Of course, doctoring of images is a bad thing, but as far as a war is concerned, maybe it should be tried to stop at all costs.

Clarification:-What I meant by the last line is that the war should be curbed at all costs.

u sincerely beleive that some doctored images is going to bring more international intervention rather the concern about the number of lives lost and also destruction caused by the war itself to both sides?? I find the idea about some doctored images will being an end this war quite amusing.

Yeah, I know its rather a long shot, but what the heck,we should try whatever we can.....you know, doctored images aren't even causing anybody damage, except of course our perception of the situation.
But looking at it,even I'm begining to think it's more like a 1980 Hindi movie's ending....:)
Also I'm interested to know your opinion regarding the scandal..

Wat scandal ?? there is no scandal?? If he doctored it, then he must be punished... Its more his profesional integrity which is tarnished and which is under question and the reason why the editorials and journals have fired him. Other than that, I dont think there is a scandal.. So wat the heck if he made more smoke out of the situation... I beleive this whole issue has got no relation watsoever w.r.t to the war, reason why the war started and the reasons why the war should end... Its quite funny to me that you tie these 2 up and try to rationalize your idea why the war should end simply bcos of few doctored images..

this guy has poor ethics and poorer photoshop skills. he should be shot for even thinking of this stuff.

@sai: doctoring images is not going to stop wars. the intention of the photographer was to take sides, and fuel more support towards his side, if at all anything. of course, his reasoning is pathetic, but that's probably why he did this.
